From registration to opportunity search
STEP 01
Prepare your business information
Gather the legal entity name, physical address and the documents requested by SAM.gov. Select industry codes that accurately describe your products or services. Enter tax and banking details only in the official registration system.
For direct federal awards, complete entity registration. A Unique Entity ID alone is not an active registration. SAM.gov assigns the UEI during the process; registration and renewal are free.
For a U.S. entity registering in SAM.gov without a CAGE code, DLA assigns it as part of that process. You do not normally need a second separate application. Overseas entities follow NCAGE requirements.
Check your entity status on SAM.gov and respond to validation requests. Keep registration renewed every 365 days. Processing varies; a 24–48-hour or 15-day completion time is not guaranteed.
Search SAM.gov using your service keywords and the available filters. Review the notice type, location, set-aside, documents, deadlines and amendments. Searching is public; a SAM.gov account enables saved searches and following notices.
Use the specific notice’s instructions, submission method and due date. Confirm that you can meet the scope, delivery schedule and required qualifications. Submit through the channel named in the notice; Property Hub does not submit bids.
The WOSB program helps eligible businesses compete for designated federal contracts. It is a contracting certification, not a grant award.
Basic requirements include operating for profit, meeting SBA’s small-business size standards, and at least 51% ownership and control by women who are U.S. citizens. Women must manage daily operations and long-term decisions. EDWOSB adds economic-disadvantage requirements.
Nonprofits do not qualify for WOSB certification. They can explore grants or other procurement opportunities where the specific eligibility rules allow them.
Use SBA’s current certification portal. Certification does not guarantee an award. SBA also explains HUBZone, veteran-owned and 8(a) programs; each has separate requirements.

No approval timeline, certification or contract award is promised. Keep passwords, tax IDs and banking information in the official agency systems.
